Battle of Gettysburg
On July 1, Confederate forces moved in on a town from west and north, driving Union forces back. That night, back up arrived for each side. The next day Lee's stratagy was to trap the Union soldiers on the left flank at the Peach Orchard, His next moves would be at Devil’s Den, and the Round Tops with Longstreet’s and Hill’s divisions, and finally finishing the Union right at Culp’s and East Cemetery Hills with Ewell’s soldiers. The morning of July 3, the Southsgroups were driven from their frugal hold on Culp’s Hill. In the afternoon, after a massive artillery attack, Lee changed direction to the Union center on Cemetery Ridge. This assult made the Union soldiers draw back. On July 4th, Lee began to lead his army toward Williamsport on the Potomac River.
